Ryan challenged the church to approach the imago Dei with curiosity rather than certainty, arguing that our understanding of God is always incomplete and that God's image is far bigger than the categories we often create. Drawing from Genesis 1 and the literary device of merism, he suggested that biblical pairings like "male and female" may point to the fullness of humanity rather than limiting it to rigid binaries. Ryan invited listeners to examine inherited assumptions about God and who reflects God's image, encouraging them to recognize the beauty and dignity of transgender people and other marginalized communities as fellow image-bearers. He concluded by asking the church to replace fear with curiosity, certainty with humility, and to allow encounters with others to expand their imagination of God's goodness.
