Summer Mixtape 26 – Pt2
Heather's talk invited the church to rethink the ways Christianity can unintentionally pressure people to fit into narrow, "acceptable" versions of themselves rather than embrace the unique image of God within each person. Using stories from youth baseball, reflections on worship, and her work with Godly Play, she argued that faith should not be about conformity or striving to meet someone else's expectations, but about creating space for authenticity, curiosity, and imagination. Rather than using Scripture to prescribe one correct way of being, Heather encouraged us to engage it as an invitation to wonder, make meaning, and discover how God is uniquely at work in our own lives. Her challenge was to stop hiding behind roles or expectations, trust the divine image within us, and courageously "show who you are," believing that our individuality is not something to suppress but a gift that reflects God's creativity.
